The Karunava Project is a network of providers who offer charity based psychedelic-assisted therapy.
Two wings of our mission:
To provide free, legal psychedelic-assisted therapy to people who cannot access services
To help educate a new generation of therapists in the practice of healing relationship
What is psychedelic-assisted therapy?
Psychedelics, in a supportive setting, can catalyze new perspectives of ourselves and the world. Having trained companions makes it easier to trust the experience, so that we can let go of the fears that constrain us from living fully. Research suggests that psychedelic-assisted therapy may aid in the recovery from trauma, addiction, and mood/anxiety disorders. Psychedelic materials include a range of naturally growing organisms, such as psilocybin mushrooms or peyote cactus, and chemically derived substances like MDMA or ketamine. As psychedelic-assisted treatments become legally available, the Karunava Project will help match volunteer providers with patients seeking care at FDA-approved clinics.
Why offer it freely?
A potential insight from psychedelic treatment is that we rely on one another— we have unique feelings and lives, yet we are deeply interconnected. With this understanding comes a natural wish for each other’s wellbeing. By freely offering services, we give a gift to both patient and therapist. The patient gets to know that they are worthy of care just by being who they are. The therapist becomes a teaching of generosity, and can enjoy what it feels like to live in an open-handed, integrated way.
